Ixtapaluca promotes pulque identity amid Mexican export challenges

In Ixtapaluca, local authorities and producers are working to establish a Geographical Indication for pulque distillates. This initiative aims to strengthen the local economy, preserve ancestral traditions, and open new markets by linking the product to the region's unique identity and cultural heritage.

Separately, political leaders from the PAN party have raised concerns regarding the impact of insecurity on Mexican commerce. They noted that the United States has imposed tariffs on various Mexican products, including lettuce, chili, cilantro, parsley, avocado, and Mexican ganache. Critics attribute these trade barriers to domestic insecurity and a lack of confidence in Mexico's ability to manage organized crime, particularly in production regions like Michoacán.
