Iyanna Mayweather ordered to pay $50 million in stabbing lawsuit

A Texas judge has ordered Iyanna ‘Yaya’ Mayweather, daughter of boxer Floyd Mayweather, to pay more than $50 million in damages to Lapattra Lashai Jacobs following a 2020 stabbing incident. The judgment, issued by the District Court of Harris County, includes $40,105,000 in compensatory damages and $10 million in exemplary damages.

The compensatory award is split between $8 million for past medical expenses, physical pain, mental anguish, and disfigurement, and $32 million for future damages related to long-term physical impairment and loss of earning capacity. The court found that Mayweather’s conduct involved an ‘extreme degree of risk’ and constituted aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Jacobs, who was at the home of rapper NBA YoungBoy during the altercation, reportedly suffered permanent loss of function in her arm.

This civil ruling follows a 2022 criminal case in which Mayweather pleaded guilty to aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and received six years of deferred adjudication probation. As part of the civil judgment, the court ordered Mayweather to provide documentation regarding her bank accounts, revenue streams, and contractual obligations to ensure the fulfillment of the financial award.
