İYİ Parti holds Balıkesir rally against new Framework Law

The Turkish Parliament has passed the ‘Law on Strengthening National Solidarity and Social Integration,’ commonly referred to as the ‘Framework Law.’ This legislation establishes a legal basis for a process aimed at ending the presence of the PKK/KCK terrorist organization and managing the surrender of weapons. The law includes provisions for the postponement of certain investigations and the execution of sentences following a National Security Council decision.

In response, İYİ Parti leader Müsavat Dervişoğlu held a large-scale rally in Balıkesir titled ‘Opening the Flag Against Treason.’ Dervişoğlu criticized the law, characterizing it as a move toward a ‘person-centered state’ and a ‘betrayal’ of the Republic. He argued that the legislative process involves a coalition between President Erdoğan, Devlet Bahçeli, and Abdullah Öcalan, and warned that such measures could lead to the erosion of Turkish national identity and citizenship definitions.

While some observers view the law as a potential path toward peace and democracy, critics and legal groups, including the Turkish Nationalist Lawyers Group, have called for the law to be challenged in the Constitutional Court, alleging it violates the constitution and threatens the nation-state structure.
