İYİ Party MP Mehmet Mustafa Gürban Faces Defection Rumors and Spokesperson Clash

Speculation rose that Mehmet Mustafa Gürban, an İYİ Party deputy from Gaziantep, might leave the party to join the ruling Justice and Development Party (AK Party). After the rumors, Gürban removed the “İYİ Party Gaziantep MP” label from his X (Twitter) biography, deleted earlier posts, and kept his phone unanswered.

İYİ Party spokesperson Buğra Kavuncu, on Onlar TV, said the party could not “vouch for anyone’s namus” and admitted he could not reach Gürban. Gürban responded on social media, accusing Kavuncu of insulting the honor of party deputies and asking, “Namusunuza kefil olmadığını söyleyen bu kişiyi parti sözcüsü olarak kabul ediyor musunuz?” He called for Kavuncu’s resignation and expulsion from the party.
