Manuel González secures Moto2 pole position at Phillip Island
Manuel González claimed pole position for the Moto2 Australian Grand Prix at the Phillip Island circuit with a time of 1:30.122. The championship leader will start from the front of the grid, ahead of Barry Baltus in second and Filip Salac in third.
González's performance follows a weekend of mixed conditions, including wet practice sessions where Izan Guevara had previously led. Guevara, his primary title rival, will start from sixth position after a late push in qualifying.
The event has been marked by several incidents and injuries. Riders Arón Canet, Sergio García, and Alex Escrig were ruled out of the race due to medical complications following crashes. Additionally, Daniel Muñoz faces a double long-lap penalty for failing to respect yellow flags during practice.
