Izet Mexhiti dismisses rumors of returning to BDI

Izet Mexhiti, co-chairman of the VLEN political party, has addressed recent speculation regarding a potential return to the BDI party. Speaking on the Alsat-M program ‘N’Dritë’, Mexhiti stated that his departure from BDI was not a sudden decision but the result of a long-standing internal conflict spanning seven to eight years.

Mexhiti emphasized that the chapter with BDI is closed and that he does not regret his decision. He noted that while he is currently part of the Albanian opposition that is part of the government, BDI remains in the opposition. He clarified that he is not a politician who makes quick or calculated moves.

Regarding the current state of VLEN, Mexhiti asserted that the party is focused on its collective program and is consolidating rather than facing internal divisions. He suggested that political fragmentation is instead occurring within the Albanian opposition, specifically mentioning AKI and the European Front. He also noted that VLEN remains open to expansion and potential cooperation with other Albanian political entities on specific issues, despite being primary competitors.
