Izet Nanić remembered on 31st anniversary of death

Izet Nanić (born 4 October 1965) was a brigadier general in the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina and commander of the 505th Bužim Brigade, one of the most elite units of the Bosnian Army. After leaving the Yugoslav People’s Army in 1992 he returned to his hometown of Bužim, organized its territorial defence and formed the brigade that later played a key role in operations such as “Munja ‘93”.

Nanić was killed on 5 August 1995, just hours before the final de‑blocking of the Krajina region during the joint Bosnian‑Croatian offensive “Operation Oluja”. His death is commemorated across Bosnia and Herzegovina, especially in the Krajina area, where he remains a symbol of bravery and dedication to the country’s freedom.
