İzmir approves 20 percent increase in shuttle service fees

The İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Transportation Commission has approved a 20 percent increase in shuttle service fees for students and personnel ahead of the new academic year. Although tradesmen associations requested a 35 percent increase due to rising fuel and operating costs, the commission settled on the 20 percent rate.

For student services, the monthly fee for distances between 0-3 kilometers will rise from 3,045 TL to 3,654 TL. Fees for longer distances, such as 0-40 kilometers, will reach 8,639 TL. Preschool and special education services will see higher rates, with the 0-3 kilometer distance costing 4,384 TL and the 0-40 kilometer distance costing 9,874 TL.

Additionally, the cost for mandatory guide personnel will be calculated as 25.49 percent of the transport fee. When included, the total cost for a standard student service over 0-3 kilometers will be 4,586 TL. Personnel shuttle services also face a 20 percent increase; for vehicles with 10-17 seats, the initial departure fee will rise from 3,636 TL to 4,363 TL, with the per-kilometer rate increasing to 56.40 TL.
