Mersin Municipality approves 224 million euro rail system funding

The Mersin Metropolitan Municipality Council has approved a financing authorization of approximately 224.3 million euros for the M2 rail system project. This funding, which may include domestic and foreign debt, covers the construction and electromechanical works for the line connecting 3 Ocak Kent Meydanı to the City Hospital and MEŞOT, as well as vehicle procurement.

Additionally, the council unanimously approved non-refundable educational support for university students residing in Mersin. Students who win full scholarships at state universities in Turkey or foundation universities in Turkey and Northern Cyprus will receive aid based on their program length: 10,000 TL for 2-year programs, 20,000 TL for 4-year programs, 25,000 TL for 5-year programs, and 30,000 TL for 6-year programs.

In another regional development, the Historical Cities Union (TKB) held its second ordinary assembly meeting in Kayseri. Hosted by Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality, the meeting included participation from various municipal leaders and representatives to discuss the preservation of cultural heritage and inter-municipal cooperation.
