İzmir Büyükşehir Belediyesi launches Solidarity Kitchen for mothers

İzmir Büyükşehir Belediyesi has launched the ‘Dayanışma Mutfağı’ (Solidarity Kitchen) at the Yurdoğlu Engelli Hizmet Merkezi to support mothers of children receiving education at the center.

The initiative provides a social space where mothers can gather and socialize while waiting for their children. The municipality supplies all necessary ingredients, and the mothers decide on the meals to be prepared. Once cooked, the mothers can take the food home, which helps alleviate the daily burden of meal preparation.

Participants have described the kitchen as a therapeutic environment that fosters community and reduces domestic stress, serving as both a productive activity and a social meeting point.
