İzmir Büyükşehir Municipality builds 2,500‑capacity street animal campus in Dikili

The İzmir Metropolitan Municipality has begun construction of a fully equipped street‑animal campus in the coastal town of Dikili. The project, developed by the municipality’s Planning and Projects Directorate together with the Technical Services Directorate, will occupy a 24,000‑square‑metre site allocated by the Dikili municipal council.

When completed, the facility will house up to 2,500 stray animals and include an administrative building, veterinary clinics, an operating theatre, shelter areas, a cafeteria and social‑amenity spaces. Outdoor zones will mimic natural ecosystems to allow animals to roam freely, and dedicated units will handle adoption education and public relations. The campus is scheduled for completion by the end of 2026 and is expected to serve Dikili and surrounding districts throughout İzmir Province.
