İzmir Citizen Assembly expands to 18 districts

The İzmir Metropolitan Municipality, in collaboration with the İzmir Planning Agency, has expanded its İzmir Citizen Assembly initiative to 18 districts. The program aims to strengthen participatory urban management by allowing residents to directly influence decision-making processes regarding their local needs and problems.

Recent sessions held in the Çiğli, Bayraklı, and Karşıyaka districts resulted in 59 policy proposals being voted upon and finalized. Specifically, 27 proposals were decided in Çiğli, 18 in Karşıyaka, and 14 in Bayraklı. Key thematic areas discussed included health, education, culture and arts, waste management, and sustainable transportation, with health emerging as a primary concern across all three districts.

These district-level proposals are intended to be integrated into broader city-wide policies under the umbrella of the İzmir Provincial Citizen Assembly.
