İzmir court continues detention in Dorukhan Büyükışık death case

A court in İzmir has decided to continue the detention of defendants involved in the investigation into the 2018 death of Dorukhan Büyükışık. The case, which initially recorded the death as a suicide at a construction site, was reopened by the İzmir Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.

The legal proceedings involve two main tracks: one regarding misconduct in office by several police officers and another involving an indictment for intentional homicide against construction workers and security guards. The two cases have been merged for trial.

Following an expanded investigation, a coordinated operation across nine provinces led to the detention of 25 suspects, including construction company owners, police officers, and workers. Among those arrested are partners from Tanyer Construction and former police officials. The father of the deceased, retired Major General Ethem Büyükışık, has called for a swift resolution, citing concerns over allegedly falsified forensic reports.
