İzmir fire department conducts maritime emergency drill

The İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Fire Department, in collaboration with İZDENİZ, conducted a maritime emergency drill in the Gulf of İzmir to strengthen response capacities for vehicle fires and other emergencies.

During the exercise held at the Üçkuyular Ferry Pier, teams simulated a fire breaking out in a vehicle aboard a passenger ferry. While firefighters addressed the blaze, personnel worked to evacuate passengers and rescue simulated casualties. The drill included a scenario where two passengers jumped into the sea due to panic and smoke; divers from the Search and Rescue Branch successfully retrieved them and provided medical care.

Ahmet Karaman, Head of the İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Fire Department, stated that various emergency drills are being carried out as part of Firefighters Week to ensure public safety.
