İzmir firefighters perform emergency home delivery

Paramedics from the İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Fire Department performed an emergency home delivery in Karşıyaka after physical constraints prevented a hospital transfer.

When 29-year-old Rabia Akkeçe called for help due to labor pains, the responding team—paramedics Erol Çıtır and Büşra Şen Arifoğulları, along with driver Murat Ay—found that the lack of an elevator and narrow staircases in the four-story building made moving the mother to a hospital difficult. As the team prepared for a transfer, labor progressed rapidly, prompting the decision to conduct the delivery on-site.

A healthy male baby, named Ahmet Can, weighing approximately 3 kilograms, was born. Following the delivery, both mother and child were transported by ambulance to Bayraklı City Hospital for observation and were subsequently discharged in good health.
