İzmir International Fair prepares for 95th annual opening
The 95th Izmir International Fair (İEF) is scheduled to take place from September 5 to September 13 under the slogan ‘Fair is in the Heart of the City’. The event's launch was held at the Alsancak Historical Gasworks Factory, attended by İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Cemil Tugay, Folkart Chairman Mesut Sancak, Migros North Aegean Director Güneş Fırıldak, and İZFAŞ General Manager Tuğçe Cumalıoğlu.
Mayor Tugay highlighted İzmir’s historical role in Turkey’s economic development, noting its importance in agriculture, industry, and maritime trade. He emphasized that while the fair's identity evolves toward specialized sectors like marble, tourism, and logistics, it remains a vital part of the city's social memory.
This year's program includes technology, sports, and digital experience areas for youth, alongside play areas for children, theater, and interactive shows. A Nazım Hikmet exhibition will be hosted at the Folkart Atlas Pavilion. Last year, the fair welcomed over 770,000 visitors.
