İzmir joins European CLI-MET project for urban climate policy

İzmir Metropolitan Municipality has joined the “Implementation of the Climate Agenda in Metropolitan Areas (CLI-MET)” project to strengthen local climate policies and share expertise with European cities. Supported by the Erasmus+ Program KA220-HED and led by the University of Palermo, the initiative aims to enhance the role of metropolitan governments in climate change mitigation and adaptation.

The project involves several partners, including the University of Palermo, Dortmund Technical University, Madrid Technical University, the Municipality of Milan, and the European Metropolitan Regions and Areas Network (METREX). The first stakeholder workshop is scheduled to be hosted by İzmir from September 28–30, 2026, where participants will evaluate climate risks, share urban experiences, and develop training programs for effective policy implementation.
