İzmir: Kültür, Mekân, İnsan magazine releases fourth issue

The fourth issue of the city culture magazine ‘İzmir: Kültür, Mekân, İnsan’ has been released. Published by İzmir Kültür AŞ and prepared by the Akdeniz Akademisi of the İzmir Metropolitan Municipality, the new issue focuses on the theme of ‘Identity and Culture.’

The magazine explores İzmir’s multi-layered social structure and cultural richness through various perspectives. The ‘File’ section covers topics such as the city’s cosmopolitan nature, its identity as a port city, and the impact of the İzmir International Fair. Contributors examine the cultural contributions of different communities, including Greek entertainment culture, the Jewish community’s role in the city’s humanist identity, Roman culture, and the effects of the population exchange on cultural transformation.

Additional features address social dynamics such as the experiences of Kurdish residents, refugees, and the migration of the creative class. The culture section delves into İzmir’s agricultural traditions, gastronomy, maritime-influenced food memory, local markets, ferry culture, and the arts, including cinema and theater.
