İzmir merchant returns 83,000 TL mistakenly transferred to his account
Murat Mercan, a merchant in the Buca district of İzmir, successfully returned 83,000 Turkish Lira to its rightful owner after receiving the funds by mistake.
The error occurred when Ramazan Ahmet Kılıçaslan, a former customer, mistakenly selected Mercan's name from his banking application while attempting to make a payment to a different individual named Murat.
After discovering the unexpected deposit, Mercan sought the owner's identity. Because bank officials could not disclose personal information due to data protection laws, Mercan utilized his own records and assistance from a relative to identify Kılıçaslan as a customer who had previously made a 400 Lira transaction at his shop. Following a period of searching for the sender, the two met, and Mercan returned the full amount in person.
