İzmir Metropolitan Municipality increases retiree support to 4,000 TL

The İzmir Metropolitan Municipality has increased its social support payments for low-income retirees from 2,500 TL to 4,000 TL per month. This increase, directed by Mayor Cemil Tugay, covers both shopping and rent assistance.

In August, the municipality distributed a total of 89,896,000 TL to eligible households. This included 72,388,000 TL in shopping aid for 19,100 retiree households and 17,508,000 TL in rent assistance for 5,000 households. The updated monthly amount provides an additional 1,500 TL per household, totaling an annual contribution of 48,000 TL.

In addition to cash transfers, the program offers utility relief. For retirees who meet the program criteria and hold water subscriptions in their own names, the first 4 cubic meters of monthly water usage are free, with a 50% discount applied to consumption exceeding that limit. Applications can be submitted via the municipality's web portal, the Alo 153 communication center, or local consultation points.
