İzmir Metropolitan Municipality introduces cemetery construction standards

The İzmir Metropolitan Municipality has signed a cooperation protocol with the İzmir Union of Tradesmen and Craftsmen (İESOB) to introduce new technical and aesthetic standards for tomb construction in the city's cemeteries.

The initiative aims to provide more transparent and predictable services for citizens during sensitive times. By establishing specific project types and technical specifications, the municipality intends to prevent unauthorized or substandard constructions and ensure visual unity across cemeteries.

Mayor Cemil Tugay stated that the project seeks to improve the quality of grave structures and environmental landscaping. The new model is designed to support registered tradespeople while offering more favorable pricing and easier processes for citizens, who will no longer need to negotiate individually with various independent contractors.
