İzmir Metropolitan Municipality joins İZBETON corruption trial

The İzmir Metropolitan Municipality has requested to join the ongoing legal proceedings regarding corruption allegations at its subsidiary, İZBETON A.Ş., as a party harmed by the alleged crimes. The case specifically concerns irregularities in the procurement of heavy machinery and vehicle rental services.

The trial involves 56 defendants, including former İZBETON General Manager Heval Savaş Kaya, who is currently detained in connection with separate investigations. The allegations involve claims of falsifying documents and committing fraud in progress regarding service procurement.

The İzmir 17th Criminal Court has postponed the hearing until January 18, 2027, pending the arrival of an expert report. The court decided to maintain judicial control measures for the defendants and will evaluate the municipality's request to intervene once the expert findings are reviewed.
