Izmir Metropolitan Municipality to convert idle building into library and community center

The Izmir Metropolitan Municipality is renovating a long-unused building in the Yamanlar neighborhood of Karşıyaka to serve as a library and community center. The project was initiated following instructions from Mayor Dr. Cemil Tugay during a field visit to address regional needs.

The renovation, managed by the Department of Science Affairs, includes comprehensive structural updates such as new mechanical and electrical installations, interior painting, ceiling work, and new window frames. Simultaneously, the Department of Parks and Gardens is upgrading the outdoor areas, including walking paths, landscaping, and playground equipment. The facility is expected to open to the public shortly after the final interior equipment is installed.
