Izmir murder case of Dorukhan Büyükışık sees final suspect arrested

In May 2018 the body of 26‑year‑old Dorukhan Büyükışık was discovered at a construction site in the Narlıdere district of İzmir. The death was initially treated as a possible suicide, but after persistent legal efforts by his father, a retired general, the case was re‑examined and reclassified as homicide based on forensic evidence and inconsistencies in surveillance footage.

A comprehensive investigation by the İzmir Public Prosecutor’s Office resulted in 26 alleged participants being charged with intentional homicide, evidence tampering and false testimony. On 11 June 2026 the last remaining fugitive, Ibrahim Kazmacı, was apprehended by Turkish border officials at the Kapıkule checkpoint in Edirne as he attempted to re‑enter the country. Following his arrest, all 26 suspects were placed in custody and transferred to prison, concluding the multi‑year probe.
