İzmir opens Disabled Cat House for special needs animals
The İzmir Metropolitan Municipality has opened a specialized Disabled Cat House in Işıkkent to support cats that cannot survive on the streets due to physical impairments. Located within the Işıkkent Animal Shelter, the facility is designed to provide a safe and comfortable environment for these animals until they can be adopted.
During the opening ceremony, Deputy Secretary General Prof. Dr. Pınar Okyay noted that many animals face permanent disabilities resulting from accidents and infections. The initiative, led by the Department of Veterinary Affairs, aims to raise public awareness regarding the welfare of street animals and encourages citizens to support sterilization efforts and animal care.
