Izmir prepares for widespread water and electricity outages on May 21

On Thursday, 21 May 2026, utility providers in Izmir will carry out planned maintenance that will interrupt water service in multiple neighbourhoods across the city. The scheduled water outages, lasting from one to several hours, affect districts such as Konak, Menderes, Seferihisar and others.

At the same time, Gediz Elektrik will implement scheduled electricity shutdowns in 13 Izmir districts, including Aliağa, Beydağ, Çeşme, Foça, Kemalpaşa, Kiraz, Konak, Menderes, Menemen, Ödemiş, Seferihisar, Tire and Torbalı. The power cuts will vary in length, with some areas experiencing half‑hour interruptions and others facing prolonged outages lasting most of the day.
