İzmit neighbor dispute escalates into violent altercation
A dispute in the Çubuklu Bala neighborhood of İzmit escalated into a violent altercation involving knives and sticks after cows entered a private garden. The conflict began when Temel Kadayıf and his son, Bahtiyar Kadayıf, were installing a water meter box and requested that neighbor F. K. remove his livestock from their property.
During the ensuing fight, 30-year-old high school teacher B. K. was wounded by a knife, sustaining injuries to his abdomen, arm, and face. He was treated at Kocaeli University Research and Application Hospital. B. K. and his parents also reported being physically assaulted by the neighbors.
B. K.'s legal counsel has denied allegations that the teacher used brass knuckles during the fight, asserting that the client acted in self-defense against an attack involving knives and wooden sticks. B. K. stated to police that he voluntarily surrendered a brass knuckle found in his vehicle to law enforcement to clarify he did not use it in the struggle.
