İzmit textile shop owner assaults neighbor following property dispute

A long-standing commercial dispute in the İzmit district of Kocaeli escalated into physical violence between a textile shop owner and a neighbor. Ertuğrul Ç., who has operated a textile business for 26 years, assaulted a neighbor following a three-year conflict regarding property boundaries and renovations.

Ertuğrul Ç. alleges that the dispute began three years ago when a neighbor purchased two adjacent shops and demolished shared walls overnight without notice. The conflict further intensified due to issues with ventilation, the installation of a kitchen gas chimney near his workspace, and claims that the neighbor attempted to obstruct public access areas. The shop owner expressed his belief that the neighbor's ultimate goal was to force him out of his business to expand their own premises.

Both parties have filed mutual criminal complaints following the altercation, which was captured on security cameras. The legal process is ongoing, with the prosecutor's office conducting damage assessments and security footage being submitted as evidence to the court.
