Izquierda Unida announces municipal candidate and Senate proposal

Izquierda Unida (IU) has announced Francisco Javier Córdoba Sánchez as its candidate for the 2027 municipal elections in Montilla, Spain. Córdoba, a member of both IU and the Communist Party of Spain (PCE) for 25 years, was selected during an open assembly. He emphasized his commitment to the municipality and his intention to build a collective political project.

Separately, IU Andalucía has proposed the creation of an ‘Andalusian Group in the Senate’ within the Frente Amplio coalition for the upcoming general elections. The initiative aims to provide Andalusia with a distinct voice in the territorial chamber to advocate for fair financing, public services, infrastructure, and the protection of the region's natural heritage and agricultural sector.
