Iztapalapa gas explosion: Reparation agreements still pending
Nearly one year after the LP gas tanker explosion in the Iztapalapa borough of Mexico City, two damage reparation agreements remain pending. Among the unresolved cases is that of a baby, Jazlyn, who suffered second and third-degree burns over 40 percent of her body.
Mexico City Prosecutor Bertha Alcalde Luján reported that the family is still reviewing medical treatment costs before finalizing an agreement. The explosion, which occurred on September 10, 2025, under the La Concordia Bridge, resulted in significant casualties and property damage.
To date, the Mexico City Prosecutor's Office has allocated a total of 471,192,000 pesos for victim reparations, a figure described by Alcalde Luján as historic due to the scale of the incident and the individual amounts assigned for cases of involuntary manslaughter.
