J. Cole cancels Sacramento concert after crew member dies in truck crash

Rapper J. Cole has canceled his August 27 performance at the Golden 1 Center in Sacramento, California, following the death of a touring crew member in a vehicle accident.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred around 6:00 a.m. on southbound Interstate 5 near Woodland. The driver, identified by the Yolo County Coroner’s Office as 66-year-old Jarlath Parkinson of Jackson, South Carolina, was operating a semi-truck transporting equipment from a previous tour stop in Seattle. Authorities stated the truck drifted onto the right shoulder and overturned when the driver attempted to steer back onto the freeway. Parkinson was the sole occupant of the vehicle and died at the scene.

Investigators are looking into whether the crash was caused by driver distraction or fatigue. Dreamville Records and Live Nation issued statements expressing condolences to the family of the deceased. Fans who purchased tickets through Ticketmaster will receive automatic refunds, while those who used third-party resellers are advised to contact their original point of purchase.
