J. Cole reportedly skips 2027 Grammy submissions

Rapper J. Cole reportedly did not submit any music for consideration in the 2027 Grammy Awards race. This includes his chart-topping album, ‘The Fall-Off’, which was released on February 6 and debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200.

While the absence of submissions has not been officially explained by Cole or his representatives, the decision comes as first-round voting begins. The album fell within the eligible Grammy release window, which ran from August 31, 2025, through August 28, 2026.

Cole has previously expressed complicated feelings regarding the Recording Academy. In a 2023 interview, he stated that the awards no longer held the same weight for him as they did earlier in his career, noting, ‘I’m not in love with this thing anymore.’ Despite past criticisms of the institution, Cole has previously won Grammy awards, including Best Melodic Rap Performance.

Because the Recording Academy requires eligible recordings to be formally entered during a specific online process, there is no way to add the album to the ballot once voting has commenced.
