J. D. Vance declines to comment on Kimberly Guilfoyle corruption allegations
Vice President J. D. Vance declined to comment directly on corruption allegations involving U.S. Ambassador to Greece, Kimberly Guilfoyle. The allegations, reported by the Wall Street Journal, suggest that Guilfoyle pressured a Trump donor, Eric Deters, to pay off a $100,000 credit card bill in exchange for political access ahead of her Senate confirmation hearings.
When questioned by a reporter regarding a hypothetical scenario involving an official requesting debt payment for government access, Vance stated he did not know the specific details or exactly who was being referenced. He noted that while he opposes anyone ‘selling access to another government official,’ he would not comment without having the full facts.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio also declined to address the report while in Greece, stating he was aware of the Journal’s findings but could not verify them. Guilfoyle, the former fiancée of Donald Trump Jr., was present during Rubio’s exchange.
