J-HRTI launches humanoid robot training facility in Chiba

The private consortium J-HRTI (Japan Humanoid Robot Training & Implementation) has launched its Kanto Data Factory in Narashino, Chiba Prefecture, to accelerate the social implementation of humanoid robots. The facility is designed to address labor shortages in manufacturing and logistics by collecting massive amounts of physical AI training data.

Operating as a data ecosystem, the facility includes a robot area for task learning, an annotation area to convert movement and sensor data into AI training sets, and a test area for environmental verification. Participating companies, including Tsumura, Yamazen, DMS, and Fuyo General Lease, collaborate to share investment costs and utilize cross-industry data to refine robot movements.

INSOL-HIGH, which manages the consortium, aims to introduce robots for simple tasks like transport within the current fiscal year. The consortium plans to expand its research hubs to 10 locations across Japan next year to support small and medium-sized enterprises in building AI foundations for domestic manufacturing.
