J. K. Rowling’s $150M superyacht docks in Los Angeles

The superyacht Samsara, owned by author J. K. Rowling, has been docked in Marina del Rey, Los Angeles, since late August. The 290-foot vessel, valued at approximately $150 million, arrived with its name concealed, an unusual maritime practice intended to maintain privacy and deter protesters.

Built by the Dutch shipbuilder Oceanco, the yacht features amenities including a cinema, a beach club, and a circular swimming pool. It can accommodate 12 guests and a crew of 26. Previous owners of the vessel include businessman Eric Smidt and Australian billionaire Brett Blundy.

While local boat captains and social media users have identified the ship as Rowling’s, the author has not made any public statements regarding her presence in Los Angeles.
