J P Nadda to inaugurate high-altitude medicine centre in Himachal Pradesh
Union Health Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda is set to inaugurate the Centre for High Altitude Medicine and Public Health Research in Keylong, Himachal Pradesh. As the first facility of its kind in India, the centre will focus on biomedical research and healthcare preparedness in the Himalayan region, addressing challenges such as extreme weather, difficult terrain, and climate variability. Research areas will include high-altitude physiology, mountain medicine, infectious diseases, and disaster medicine, while exploring digital health tools like telemedicine and drone-enabled logistics.
In a separate development, Nadda criticized the Congress-led Himachal Pradesh government under Chief Minister Sukhvinder Sukhu. Speaking at a convention in Kullu, Nadda accused the state administration of misgovernance, financial mismanagement, and failing to complete development projects despite central funding. He alleged that the state government has failed to utilize available resources effectively and has disrupted educational and healthcare institutions.
