JA Okinawa launches air transport project for same-day produce delivery

JA Okinawa has launched a demonstration project in collaboration with JA Zen-Noh to transport agricultural products from Fukuoka to Okinawa via air on the same day they are shipped.

Under this initiative, JA Zen-Noh takes over the logistics role previously handled by third-party delivery companies. The goal is to reduce freshness loss and mitigate cost burdens while maintaining retail prices at current levels. The first phase of the project has already seen items such as pears and persimmons arrive at the ‘Umanchu Market’ in Itoman on the same day they were shipped from Fukuoka. JA Okinawa plans to expand the variety of products and aims to establish regular service by coordinating with production areas across the country.
