Jabalpur High Court issues non-bailable warrant against Chhindwara SP
The Jabalpur High Court has issued a non-bailable warrant against Chhindwara Superintendent of Police (SP) Ajay Pandey for failing to comply with court orders and ignoring repeated notices. The court has ordered the SP to appear personally before the bench on October 1, 2026. The responsibility for executing the warrant has been assigned to the Inspector General (IG) of the Jabalpur Zone.
The legal dispute stems from a contempt petition filed by the family of Santosh Pandey, a deceased police officer. The family challenged a recovery of 224,000 rupees imposed by the police department following the officer's retirement and subsequent death. Although the High Court had previously issued orders to stay this recovery, the Chhindwara SP's office allegedly failed to comply with the judicial directions.
Justice Vivek Jain's single bench issued the warrant after noting the department's failure to submit a compliance report or ensure the SP's presence during previous hearings regarding the contempt matter.
