Jabalpur student killed following dispute over chicken prices
A dispute over chicken prices in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, resulted in the death of a student, Arjun Singh. The incident occurred near a D-Mart in the Tilhari area under the Gorabazar police station jurisdiction.
According to reports, Singh was preparing for competitive exams while living in Jabalpur. He had gone to a chicken shop with his brother-in-law, a corporal in the Indian Army, to plan a meal. An argument regarding the cost of the meat escalated into a violent physical assault. It is alleged that the shopkeeper, identified as Sikandar, and his accomplices beat Singh with sticks before throwing him into the Khandari drain.
Local residents assisted police in retrieving Singh from the drain. He was rushed to a hospital, where doctors declared him dead. Following the incident, police detained the primary suspect, Sikandar, along with three others. The death has caused significant tension and public anger in the Tilhari area, prompting increased police surveillance.
