Jablonec nad Nisou manages villa reconstruction and municipal updates
The city of Jablonec nad Nisou is managing several local infrastructure and cultural developments. The city has launched a second tender for the reconstruction of the Kantorova vila, a significant modernist landmark designed by Heinrich Kulka. The previous tender was canceled after a single bid exceeded the estimated budget by 37 percent. The project, estimated at 54 million CZK, aims to restore the functionalist building to serve as a cultural and educational hub.
In terms of public services and events, the municipal building on Komenského Street will undergo window replacements in September, costing 5.4 million CZK. This will lead to limited operations, specifically affecting the expedited processing of identity cards and passports between August 25 and September 7.
Additionally, the Horní náměstí square will be closed to parking from Thursday night until Sunday afternoon to accommodate the Jablonecká Perle festival, scheduled for August 21 and 22. The festival will feature various zones and includes a charitable component supporting the Preciosa Foundation.
