Automotive industry trade fairs to showcase electrification and AI in 2026

Major automotive and transport industry trade fairs, Automechanika Frankfurt and IAA Transportation 2026, are set to showcase significant technological shifts in the sector. Automechanika Frankfurt, scheduled for September 8–12, 2026, expects over 4,400 exhibitors from 80 countries. The event will focus on artificial intelligence, digitalization, electromobility, and autonomous driving within the automotive aftermarket.

IAA Transportation, held in Hanover from September 15–20, 2026, will highlight sustainable logistics and commercial vehicle innovations. Key participants include Fliegl, presenting ultra-lightweight trailers like the SDS 390 RoadRunner, and JAC Motors, which is showcasing a four-model European electric lineup including light-duty trucks and vans. Carrier Transicold will also present electrification solutions and fleet connectivity tools.

Industry leaders are emphasizing the transition toward climate-neutral transport, though they continue to call for improved hydrogen and charging infrastructure. Meanwhile, automotive professionals in Frankfurt have called for greater unity between trade and craft sectors to navigate the industry's digital and ecological transformation.
