Jacareacanga and Pará municipalities train health workers for emergency response

Health professionals in the Pará state of Brazil are undergoing emergency‑care training to improve urgent medical and dental services. In Jacareacanga, SAMU staff attended a course organized by the State Secretariat of Public Health (SESPA) that covered basic life support and trauma care, preparing the new mobile emergency unit for its launch. Coordinator Jurandir highlighted the importance of the training for the municipality’s first SAMU ambulance, while SESPA nurse Chriscia Damus emphasized its role in expanding quality emergency care across the Baixo Amazonas and Tapajós regions.

Separately, dentists and auxiliary staff from the municipal oral health network received first‑aid instruction from the Military Firefighters Corps. The program, led by firefighter‑medic Rios and nurse Souza Neto, taught basic life‑support techniques and emergency protocols for dental clinics. CEO coordinator Leandro Negrine stressed that such continuous education is essential for patient safety and the overall quality of municipal health services.
