Jacek Siewiera warns Poland against retaliation on Rzeszów-Jasionka airport amid Kyiv dispute

Jacek Siewiera, former head of Poland’s National Security Bureau, said Kyiv’s decision to exclude Poland from a Ukrainian anti‑ballistic missile initiative was a mistake. He warned that retaliatory strikes on the Rzeszów‑Jasionka airport – which handles roughly 90‑95 % of the aid flowing to Ukraine and is vital for Polish security – would harm Poland’s own interests. Siewiera urged Warsaw to press Kyiv by diplomatic means rather than actions that could damage the airport and the region’s residents. He emphasized that Poland must protect its security and agency while continuing to support Ukraine against Russian aggression.
