Jacinda Ardern appointed professor of practice at University of Sydney
Former New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has been appointed as a professor of practice at the University of Sydney. Joining the school of public health, Ardern will hold a part-time role focused on empathetic leadership, social cohesion, and civic trust.
In her new capacity, she will engage with students, researchers, and the wider community through guest lectures, masterclasses, and mentoring. She is also expected to work with the Sydney Policy Lab and the office of the vice-chancellor to develop approaches to values-based leadership and address global health challenges related to equity, inclusion, and wellbeing.
Since resigning from her position as New Zealand leader in January 2023, Ardern has held fellowships at Harvard and Oxford universities. Her recent work has included addressing online violent extremism and the development of people-centred AI.
