Jack Bowd to face trial for fatal 2024 Tomingley crash

A trial is scheduled for October regarding a fatal 2024 car crash on the Newell Highway at Tomingley, approximately 35 kilometres south of Dubbo. Jack Bowd, 25, faces four counts of dangerous driving occasioning death and several other offences. Bowd, the sole survivor of the September 27, 2024, collision, has pleaded not guilty to the charges.

During a readiness hearing in the Dubbo District Court, Crown barrister Ms. Swift noted significant community interest in the case. The two-week judge-alone hearing is expected to include distressing photographic evidence and expert material. The court may provide breaks to allow families and attendees to recover from viewing upsetting images.

The defense has requested to view the vehicle involved in the crash, which is currently held in the Gilgandra Police yard. There is also a possibility that the trial will include a visit to the crash scene.
