Jack Carney nominated for GAA Footballer of the Year

Mayo midfielder Jack Carney has been shortlisted for the 2026 Footballer of the Year award, joining nominees Ryan O'Donoghue and David Clifford. Carney, who played a key role in Mayo's first All-Ireland SFC success in 75 years, expressed feelings of ‘imposter syndrome’ when compared to the established stars of the group.

Carney noted that his nomination is a significant milestone for his club, Kilmeena, marking their first All-Star nominee. Following the All-Star awards, the Mayo squad is scheduled to travel to Barbados for a ten-day break before shifting their focus toward the 2027 season.
