Jack de Belin ruled out of Rugby League World Cup due to injury
Former St George Illawarra Dragons and Parramatta Eels player Jack de Belin has been ruled out for the remainder of the Rugby League World Cup after suffering fractured ribs.
De Belin, who was hospitalized in Port Moresby, expressed significant disappointment at being unable to represent the Papua New Guinea Kumuls for the rest of the tournament following a round two loss to Samoa. He noted that while the physical pain of the injury was intense, the emotional difficulty of watching his team from the sidelines was more significant.
De Belin highlighted his deep personal connection to the nation, noting that his grandmother was born and raised in Papua New Guinea. He described the experience of playing for the Kumuls as one of the most special and overwhelming moments of his professional career.
