Jack Draper to end 2026 season early due to injuries

British tennis player Jack Draper has announced he will end his 2026 season early due to persistent injuries, aiming for a return to competition in early 2027. The 24-year-old has struggled with significant issues involving his left shoulder and recurring knee injuries.

After reaching a career-high ATP ranking of No. 4 in June 2025, Draper’s ranking has fallen to No. 155 as of September 2026. His recent season was hampered by a bone bruise in his shoulder following Wimbledon 2025, which led to his withdrawal from the US Open. Despite a notable quarter-final run at Indian Wells in early 2026, where he defeated Novak Djokovic, subsequent injuries in Barcelona and losses in Montreal and Cincinnati forced him to halt his season.

Draper’s absence marks a significant challenge for British tennis, which currently relies on players like Cameron Norrie and Arthur Fery. While his physical setbacks have impacted his match fitness and consistency, Draper remains a key figure for the sport in the UK.
