Jack Draper’s US Open hopes clouded by lingering arm injury

British tennis player Jack Draper has withdrawn from the Mubadala DC Open after a persistent left‑arm problem, adding another setback to his preparation for the US Open. He has been granted a main‑draw wildcard for the National Bank Open in Montreal and has also entered the Brownsburg Challenger in Indiana, giving him additional opportunities to test his fitness before the Grand Slam.

Draper, coached by former world No. 1 Andy Murray, has not played in any of the three majors this season and has seen his ranking fall to No. 147. He described his injury as a “perfect storm” of complications and urged patience, noting that recovery requires more than simple rest. The player hopes the upcoming tournaments will provide the match rhythm needed to qualify for the US Open main draw.
