Jack Rocha campaign targeted by explosive device in Espírito Santo
An explosive device was thrown at a campaign event for Federal Deputy Jack Rocha in Cachoeiro de Itapemirim, Espírito Santo. The homemade artifact struck members of her team, resulting in minor injuries to two workers who received medical attention.
This incident follows another reported act of violence in Vila Velha, where campaign materials were allegedly destroyed. The campaign has reported the matter to the Military Police and intends to provide images and records to assist authorities in identifying those responsible. Additionally, the campaign plans to file a complaint against a military police officer regarding social media posts deemed disrespectful following the incident.
Marcelo Santos, President of the Legislative Assembly of Espírito Santo, issued a statement condemning the violence. He described the act as an affront to the Democratic Rule of Law and emphasized that political disagreements should be resolved through dialogue and respect rather than aggression.
